Microsoft gave Windows platforms like Windows Live Mail and MS Outlook access to an incredible email infrastructure. Different file types are supported by both platforms; for example, MS Outlook accepts PST files, whereas Windows Live Mail utilizes EML files. Both benefits and drawbacks might be associated with these forms.
Data stored in EML files adheres to the MIME RC 822 standard. The fundamental composition of a.eml file consists of a header section with ASCII text and a body section that may include attachments, hyperlinks, and text.
Users occasionally wish to convert EML files into PST due to frequent problems including hardware or software malfunctions, network errors, human mistakes, etc. I've included a few key manual tips for transferring files from EML to PST below.
Method 1:
Step 1: Launch Windows Live Mail and Microsoft Outlook.
Step 2: Select File -> Export -> Email messages in Windows Live Mail. Click Next after choosing Microsoft Exchange.
Step 3: A new Window Live Mail Export tab will now appear. Exchange from Microsoft and Microsoft's Windows Live Mail are the alternatives available when choosing the format you wish to export. Select Microsoft Exchange, then press the Next button.
Step 4: After seeing the notification "This will export messages from WLM to Outlook or Microsoft Exchange," click OK to verify the decision.
Step 5: Choose Selected Folders or All Folders under "Select the mail folders which you would like to transfer from Windows Live Mail." Click OK now.
Step 6: After the procedure is finished, click Finish to open the Export Complete window.
Step 7: The notification "Your mails were successfully exported" appears once the export procedure is finished. Finally, use the Microsoft Outlook email client to verify the data from the exported emails.
Note: It's best to save a backup copy file beforehand since this operation may cause data loss. It also fails in a few uncommon circumstances.
Method 2: Import EML files into PST
Step 1: Click File > Open > Import after starting Microsoft Outlook.
Step 2: Choose the option to Import from another Program or File. Press the Next button.
Step 3: Click Next after selecting the Comma Separated Values option.
Step 4: Double-click the imported file after browsing through it. Three alternatives are visible: Replace duplicates using imported content. Permit the creation of duplicates; do not import duplicates. After making your selection, click the Next button.
Step 5: Click Next after choosing the folder or location where the imported files will be saved. After that, click Finish to wrap up the procedure.
As you are aware, EML formats are supported by Outlook Express, Thunderbird, and Windows Live Mail. Therefore, you must understand how to switch the format of these files into Outlook.
Step 1 Requires copying and pasting the EML files into WLM.
Note: You can skip the previous step if the EML files are already in WLM or have been configured in WLM.
Step 2: C:UserswindowsusernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftStoreLive Mail for Windows.
Step 3: Click File -> Export Email Messages -> Microsoft Exchange after launching WLM. Next, press the OK button.
Step 4: Select the folders you wish to export and press the OK button.
Windows Mail to Outlook
Step 1 save the EML files in the Windows Mail storage.
Note: If you do not have any emails in Windows mail, navigate to C:UserswindowsusernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live Mail.
Step 2: Select File -> Export -> Messages after starting Windows Mail.
Step 3: Select Microsoft Exchange -> Next in
Step 4: Click OK after selecting the folders you wish to export.
Note: With Outlook selected as the default application, Microsoft Exchange is required.
From Outlook Express to Outlook
Step 1: Select every EML file you wish to migrate by opening Outlook Express. Select the EML files and drop them into Outlook Express.
Step 2: Select File -> Open and Export -> Import & Export after launching Outlook.
Choose Import Internet Mail & Addresses in Step 3.
Step 4: Select Outlook Express -> Proceed -> Complete.
